【摘要】:Electrochemicalcorrosionratemeasurementsoftenprovideresultsintermsofelectricalcurrent.AlthoughtheconversionofthesecurrentvaluesintomasslossratesorpenetrationratesisbasedonFaraday’Law,thecalculationscanbecomplicatedforalloysandmetalswithelementshavingmultiplevalencevalues.Thispracticeisintendedtoprovideguidanceincalculatingmasslossandpenetrationratesforsuchalloys.Sometypicalvaluesofequivalentweightsforavarietyofmetalsandalloysareprovided.Electrochemicalcorrosionratemeasurementsmayprovideresultsintermsofelectricalresistance.Theconversionoftheseresultstoeithermasslossorpenetrationratesrequiresadditionalelectrochemicalinformation.Someapproachesforestimatingthisinformationaregiven.Useofthispracticewillaidinproducingmoreconsistentcorrosionratedatafromelectrochemicalresults.Thiswillmakeresultsfromdifferentstudiesmorecomparableandminimizecalculationerrorsthatmayoccurintransformingelectrochemicalresultstocorrosionratevalues.1.1Thispracticecoverstheprovidingofguidanceinconvertingtheresultsofelectrochemicalmeasurementstoratesofuniformcorrosion.Calculationmethodsforconvertingcorrosioncurrentdensityvaluestoeithermasslossratesoraveragepenetrationratesaregivenformostengineeringalloys.Inaddition,someguidelinesforconvertingpolarizationresistancevaluestocorrosionratesareprovided.
